Australia 2022 cruise talks

Below are the links to the Google Photos versions of the talks I gave on the Holland America Noordam during the Nov 12-Dec 02 2022 period. I have adding text to explain the slides under the “i” tab. I will also be adding references and acknowledgments where needed. Some animations were in the original power points – but when saved the powerpoint slides as jpg’s these animations obviously don’t work.

The slides shown on the links below are very close to what I gave on the ship. Only a few slides have been modified – if they had major problems. I modified my “style” of presentation as the cruise progressed, so the format of the presentation evolved to 1) a summary of what we saw at the previous port 2) our main subject for the talk and 3) a quick look ahead to the next port’s features of interest. This seemed to keep the interest of the audience better than just presenting a talk on one subject. Asking rhetorical questions to the audience, together with questions (like how many people have seen this or that, or have you been to this or that destination) helped to keep audience interest.

The route of our cruise around the top end of Australia

The presentations many seem quite disorganized. I apologize for this – but in real-time I would skip over some slides that were redundant, and for others I would say more than is evident on the slide alone. Some slides were inserted as a reminder to talk about a particular subject. A recording of the presentations would be better than the static slides shown below. Perhaps for next time…
