Introduction

This section provides a non-comprehensive global survey of cloud-impacted regions around the world that should be of interest to biologists, ecologists and those involved in conservation activities.  It offers more information and details about many sites than can be included in typical publications, whether book chapters or journal publications.

I will use satellite imagery from different sources to motivate the reader to look more into the regions I am choosing to illustrate.  These regions are those that I personally find interesting, have visited for “ground truth” evaluation, or those that ‘Look” interesting from a satellite perspective.  This is primarily an educational effort – to motivate the reader to take a more detailed interest in these particular regions – most of which have novel biogeographical aspects.
