This was supposed to be the highlight of our trip – exploring the Mata Atlantica forests of the Misiones Province of Argentina. Perhaps it was. Perhaps not. The paved roads to get there were rough and the drive long. At least the accommodation – 2 nights in a geodesic dome – were nice. Immersed in the forest (probably secondary) we were able to attracts insects on our platform. Rain somewhat interfered one day, and a trail we hoped to take was closed at the “nearby” park (not that close). We saw fewer insects than hoped for – though those that came to the lights were novel. And birding was OK, but not spectacular.
