Tennant Creek is a small town about 550 miles (straight) south of Darwin. It is much drier, but with a precipitation maximum similar to that of Darwin. The axes have been rescaled, but the January rainfall is now only about 100mm (4 inches). Maximum temperatures are higher in the summer (Jan) but cooler in the winter. The relative humidity is much lower. Thus you can escape the high humidity and rainfall of the coastal areas on northern Australia by traveling south a day or so.
