We visited the Tankwa Karoo National Park only one, in 2013, and stayed at two different cottages (#1 and #2).

Very dry landscapes.

Cottage #1

Kitchen and dining area inside this very old and now restored cottage.

Our bed.

The living room.

The donkey boiler. It worked well providing us with hot water.

Our telescope ready for the night viewing in this very dark location.

Rosario and our cottage in the background.

Landscape.

Succulent.

This hillside had many of this type of succulent.

Crassula sp.

Hoodia gordonii.

As we drove through the park, more impressively dry landscapes. Not very tall vegetation here. In the center of this image is a harvester termite mound.

A beautiful Gemsbok (Oryx gazella).

Tortoises were active. Shown here an Angulate tortoise (Chersina angulata).

Aloe sp. flowering.

Note the Aloes in this rocky habitat.

A Euphorbia sp. with a Hoodia at its base.

There is no electricity in the cottages so all dinners are candlelight dinners.
After our stay in lovely and quiet cottage #1 we moved to cottage #2, a larger cottage with impressive views and as was the case with cottage #1, no electricity. Only a solar water heater.
Cottage #2 was in a more remote part of the park, but there were other cottages in the vicinity.

Our very private cottage.

The cottage.

Large comfortable bedroom.

The shower had a door to the outside.

The living room.

Ready to eat our dinner.

Inside the cottage.

Tortoises continued to be encountered during our stay at the park.
