The value of electives

Most college students in the US have the option of some “elective” courses. Even in High School there are options of taking courses for personal “enrichment” that are not part of the formal requirements to graduate. In my biases opinion, electives can be crucial to your ultimate success and enjoyment in life.

Most of us know of the story of Steve Jobs who founded Apple Computers and the importance of him sitting in on a course in calligraphy. The font styles of the first Apple computers is what distinguished them from the standard fonts of the computer industry and eventually what attracted a large following.
