Jan 18 2022 Update – Birding in the Lower Rio Grande Valley

A few days ago a new section about aspects of the natural history of lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas was added. This should be of most interest to birders, but there are discussions about the conservation efforts in the valley as well and satellite imagery showing some of the progress towards this end. Also included are maps of certain species from eBird and iNaturalist that shows some of the problems facing Citizen Science efforts.

The webpage is quite long and may take some time to load, but there is quite a bit of information for those who have the opportunity of visit the region. It is clearly a winter destination of those living in the US and wish to drive south to escape cold winters in the north.
